Last year mizuna was my favorite crop so this year I bought the ruby streaks variety too. It has already bolted badly and it is making the normal kind bolt too. Looks like I will be tilling the bed under soon.

I like the Ruby Streaks, but it certainly is very touchy and unproductive for me; I think it prefers a cooler, damper environment than my farm.

Part of the problem with my first bed of greens is that I used mixed seed from last fall and it had arugula in there. So the arugula started bolting, then the mizuna. Now the whole bed is flowers except for the baby kales. I think I might weed out the crap and just reseed. It comes up so fast. Then later I will do my 5th sowing of carrots there.

Mizuna are deeply cut leaved Bok Choy like species belonging to Brassica rapa var nipposinica. Ruby Streaks is technically NOT a Mizuna, it is a Brassica juncea var japonica (it is a true mustard) but is now accepted vernacular as Mizuna due to its similarity to the true Mizuna.
True Mizuna varieties are "Early" , "Tokyo Bekana", "Kyona", "Kyoto", "Purple" and "Deep Purple" while Mustard Mizuna varieties are "Ruby Streaks", "Lime Streaks", "Green Streaks", "Ruby Flash" and "Golden Flash".
I found out that "Golden Flash" is the same as "Golden Frills" from Wild Garden Seeds.
Mizpoona from Wild Garden Seeds is a hybrid of True Mizuna and Tatsoi.

This is how it looked yesterday morning before pulling anything bolted. I left the baby kales and seeded more greens.
