Thank you Joseph. I never noticed that icon. I will keep disk space in mind for the future. We have already used up all disk space available for photos... It doesn't take any additional space to link to photos that are hosted elsewhere. What I had intended by the "too large" comment is the width of the photo in pixels... Last I knew the forum wasn't resizing photos to display them so if someone posts a photo that is 4000 pixels wide then the screen width expands to accommodate it and it can make reading the site difficult. 320, 640, or 800 pixels wide seems to work well. Some of the image hosting services provide a link in which the photo has been resized already with a link to a larger version on the photo hosting site.

How long does everyone dry seeds before putting them in storage? I shelled the peas a few days ago and they appear to be quite dry. I have never really saved any seeds before and I'm not sure if it has been long enough. Until they are dry... Sometimes I dry seeds in a dehydrator set at 95F. Those get dry much quicker than those sitting on the counter in a sieve or bowl. Seeds drying in the warm house dry much faster than those in the cold barn. In addition to the crushing/breaking method already mentioned... I test the dryness of seeds by putting them in a jar or plastic bag and leaving it for a few minutes in the sun. If condensation forms on the inside of the bag then they are not dry enough. I also bite seeds to test dryness. If they snap/crunch they are dry enough. If they mash they are not. Once dry I run all seeds through the freezer to kill seed eating insects. I hate it when I dump a packet of seeds into my hand and get a handful of pea we-evils. Then I store in glass jars with steel lids to avoid re-infection.

The forum will also scale images if you tell it to. Insert the picture URL in the normal way and then click on the BBCode tab. You'll see something like this:
img alt=" " src="http://some.webserver.com/my_cool_photo.jpg" style="max-width:100%;"
Just change the max-width value to whatever you want and then click on the Preview tab to see the result.

I will play around with it the next time I post pics. Haven't been doing any work in the garden last couple days due to being called out to far away stores and other stuff going on. Hopefully I can get out there now that my weekend is here!

First turning tomato of the year! It is a cherry type. This appears to be the first watermelon. Blooms are everywhere so hopefully I will have more soon.

The links you pasted for the actual picture, are the web page, not the picture itself. If you can instagram to give you the link to the picture and you provide that in your post in the same way, it should work fine. See above, those links don't just link to a picture, they link to an instagram page which shows an instagram banner and allows comments. They are not the ones you give to an image thing in a forum.

In my browser (firefox in Windows) if I go to the Instagram page and right click on the photo, the image URL can be obtained by clicking on the "view background" popup menu.

Ok so I think the main problem is that I am using a tablet. Problem should go away when using the computer. Thanks everyone! Using windows and Joseph's method to get the picture URL really should work for you. If you prefer your tablet, though, and aren't committed to using instagram, I know an image host that gives you a direct link. (My pictures are posted to that server, and I use an Android tablet myself.) If you're interested in trying it, it's postimg.org . You don't have to create an account, but if you like them, I reccomend it, it'll be easier to find your pics later. After you upload, it'll take you to a page of links. Use the one marked direct link.

Well I could not figure out how to get the picture URL off Instagram using internet explorer. So I just downloaded Firefox. Oldmobie I did try that host site and liked it. I might use that site in the future. For now I think I will continue to use Instagram because I have my other pictures on there. I will probably end up switching to your site so I don't have to get out the laptop with every picture but we will see. Thanks again for the help. I guess I'm learning as much about computers as I am about gardening on here. Now know how my mom feels when it comes to cell phones lol.

yesterday I picked the first two kohlrabi. I guess they haven't all been eaten up. These are the first seed I have saved from a plant I started from seed! I got .75 ounces of seed after they dried. This is the view from my deck last night.
