I've got a lot of acorn squash volunteers in my garden. I can't remember actually growing an acorn squash before, so they must have come from store-bought fruit that ended up in the compost bin or straight into the garden. What I want to know is - are GM acorn squashes a thing in the U.S? (Or are most acorns just fancy hybrids?) I know that some GM crops are illegal here (that doesn't mean that they couldn't be illegally circulated here) hoping that squash is one of them.
I do not want to be growing or eating GM's. I'm hoping to possibly save seed from some of them - I've got two plants producing fruits that are white/chartreuse green, the rest are stereotypical dark green acorns.

I have not heard of any GM squash in the USA. I bet those are standard varieties or crosses of them; probably not even from hybrid seed. You could hand pollinate and select from them.
