So I just registered on my folia. I haven't done the donation yet and not sure if I will. I want to see how helpful it is first. I know that there are a few milestones that you can't use and you can't put your harvest in unless you make a donation. What else is there that you can do if you register?
Also is anyone else using it that are on here?

Joseph on MyFoliaSometimes I make a donation, sometimes I don't... The only thing I really miss when on the free-site is the ability to sort things alphabetically, and jump to the middle of the list with one click.

Ok that sounds like a very helpful tool. Most the things that are on there are things that I keep track of. It would be a great tool to use for the whole season. Then there wouldn't be any tracking sheets to make and change through out the year

For the past six years I have found the site very useful in keeping track of my seeds and projects, and sending myself reminders that I pay the small fee of $23 to be a member. It's basically where I catalog everything. The developers are very good at listening to ideas and needs and continually implement new and useful features.
For instance a recent feature for people who have smart phones (alas, no cell towers near me) is you can print a coded plant tag that can be read in the field by the phone and used to enter and upload observations of your plants. Since my fields are across a creek from my computer, this would be useful to me if I had cell service. Instead I must take notes (or worse, try to remember something) and enter it later.

Many smart phones can connect to local wi-fi networks. I wonder if you could run that app over wireless from a base station over at your house?

Better that my folia should make their tool more modern. With the new "HTML 5" you can make offline web pages, which can synchronise your data when you get a connection. I sort of work on one for someone, which is involved around people going out for jobs where there is no cell reception, and you can take photos, record the gps coordinates, and when you get a connection again, then syncs.. My first idea for personal use of it was to record and document plants and trees as I have little cell connection out in my paddocks.

philagardener I have a 14 y.o. 'wood burning' hand-me-down flip 'go' phone that I refill every three months so I don't have to have a contract. I only use it when I travel. copse Folia is in the middle of the HTML 5 upgrade right now, just ironing out some of the small issues in the rollout. Sounds like it will help in cases such as ours. Are you on Folia? Maybe I'll have to look into a smart phone. I, too, would like the add GPS coordinates for trees.

I just use folia for reference. Mostly what I've found it useful for, is pictures of plants in various stages of development.
I know nothing about folia's html 5 upgrade, but it doesn't inherently allow things to work offline. Some businesses choose to make their app work directly with a connection, on purpose, and it might be that folia has no plans for an offline version.
