This is really more of a cover crop question actually. I have some beds where potatoes have been dug and I bought crimson clover seed for a fall cover crop. It is supposed to die here in winter. Do you think I should manure first, seed, let it die, and cover with white plastic in spring and plant the brassicas OR should I seed, add manure in spring and till in spring?

I don't think the clover would enjoy the manure as much as the Spring-planted Brassicas; think you'd lose nutrients overwinter, assuming the manure is well rotted and not salty.
