These are the F3 growouts of my mass cross short fat parsnip project - somewhat disappointing, since the parents were very short and fat, but the progeny have mostly turned out long and skinny And of the short fats, they aren't very short or fat. I've been pondering where to go with this now - Perhaps the stubby genes are recessive? Maybe the pollen from outcrosses is more viable? Got another few beds of self-sown 'nips to dig today, so will see what they bring. I could have just grown out lots of Kral, but for some crazy reason wanted to incorporate some local material. Hope the short fat coloured carrots are a bit more encouraging. Sorry for the blurry pics - low light late yesterday arvo.
