I planted horseradish for the first time last fall. It didn't grow great where it was but I was looking at digging it. Some seemed so small so I left it still. How long can it still be dug this fall? I suppose until the ground freezes? I can put some straw there. The next market is 11/22. I want to offer some fresh roots and then take whatever is left and make into prepared. That cannot be sold at market but can be shared with CSAs.

Good luck with that; think I must be growing "pony-radish", it's so puny, though right now it's looking more robust than ever.

I have some huge horseradish plants and I leave em them forever and dig them when I need them. First year root is best but as long as you can dig the soil you can harvest them. They wont get woody.

Ok. I covered it in straw and row cover today.
