I can't for the life of me remember if I posted this here but it was so cool, I wanted to share. I experimented with what appeared to be dead cabbage stems that had lively looking roots in spring. They sprouted from the roots (ignore the poor light elongation - I wasn't expecting it to work):

What happened after that? Did they bolt?

I didn't further the experiment as I already had f2s of these. Though vernalized, they might not have the size for flowering. I'll give it a go again next year.

Though, having said that, I did get the f2s from rooted sprouts that I overwintered indoors… so… just noticed with some smaller regrowth from Brassica oleracea that has overwintered, that it doesn't necessarily flower even after overwintering outdoors if it doesn't have a certain size. Worth looking further into.
