In the comment section of a blog that is not so trusted as ya'll, a poster wrote that they would slice off the bottom of an onion, replant, and it would grow again. Voilla! Endless supply of onions.
So... Have ya'll heard of such a thing? Or done it?

I often do that with green onions; should work with Alliums in general, so long as there is the central growth point; no idea how it would affect flowering/bulbing.

Yes, done to aid flower stalk development and aid selection ( taste for example). Won't prevent bolting and should give smaller green onions.
