Anybody grow it? Anybody know of a source in the U.S. for tubers or possibly even seeds? While less desirable than other perrenial root crops, they still have potential for a permaculture setup (which I've been looking into). It looks like they make a good covercrop, and function as a medicinal as well.

The tubers show up occasionally at my local produce market; if there is a "harvest" season, remind me, as I might well forget.

Ditto, there are a few people at the FM at Union Square who sell it (or at least there were, I'm not sure I've seen it that last few years)

I grow a few beds of it. People love it at the markets to put in salads. I find it easy to grow and pretty well behaved.

Seeds might be hard to come by. From reports I've read, it seems to be self-sterile... which means the plants passed around as tubers won't set seed with other plants also grown from tubers.

I don't have them in a garden bed but under trees in shade. When I ripped some out the tubers were quite tiny and I didn't bother to cook them. They are perennial and a bit weedy. A ground cover which looks and behaves a bit like mint. backyardnursery.freeforums.net/

I grow them and have never seen flowers on my variety. They are decent sized tubers too.

I have some growing in a raised bed, but didn't purposely dig them up. The ones I unintentionally found were pretty tiny.

I tried them a few years ago; I got a few good sized tubers and lots of tiny ones. What really put me off was that the soil stick in all the indentations in the tubers. It might be worth trying again in raised beds, or in a container. It spread like mad.
