I've been on Facebook for a bit more than a year and previously had doubts about whether I would ever join. In the end, I found that there are simply a lot more people communicating over Facebook than specific-interest forums these days. I shouldn't be surprised because I used to be very active on Usenet and resisted joining web forums for a long time. Eventually, something will surpass Facebook as well.

According to many sources Instagram has already overtaken Facebook, at least with the under 30's crowd.

It's not a very good format for chit-chat or at least, as I know instagram. I'm afraid that I'll have to join it but I've been putting it off. It's hard enough for me to tweet!

Thankfully starry, they reinstated me today. I'm clearly not a spammer or a cause pretending to be a person though wouldn't' that be cool to be a cause I had to submit official id and have someone review my case. :/ A pain but in the end, my good name was cleared. How nice for you... to get your profile back... BUT at what cost!!! Facebook recently took my profile hostage... And I'm unable to do anything there. One of the times I attempted to log in... there came up a request for proper ID. Apparently... they want me to send a drivers license??? There's entirely too much privacy concerns over facebook, and asking for additional proof of identity... totally crosses lines... I could dig up an old snail mail envelope as proof of identity... I'm not sure I even want them to have my mailing address... forget them having a copy of my dr. license... What all could they do with that?

I'm old and conservative. I find fb tedious. I've joined a few gardening groups but find the stream of posts very difficult to follow. Clearly i dont know how to use it correctly, but cant be bothered finding out. The gardening forum i admin in oz has declining participation, and likely will wither away in the next year or so. Most members there are on the mature side of life. FB seems to be about instant gratification and acknowledgement, not information sharing. Is this an age related thing? I hate the way it decides what to show me. But i suppose I'll have to play eventually. Damn. T

FB did that to me too, but they dont want to get my personal page back even after i've sent some IDs, so all messages and thread i've started on the great Plant Breeding For Permaculture group are lost. Sad.
