I finally after years of living in the suburbs have a large garden away from the city i want to try to grow some coloured sweet corn and some tomatoes. If anyone has any seeds for sale they feel would grow well in a colder shorter season climate(southern ontario) i would love to buy some or any other vegetable that does well with a short season the soil is more on the sandy side in my area.
If you can help out please email me scottverbeek@gmail.com

Head to the closest Seedy Saturday. www.seeds.ca/eventsI've been at three so far this season. Seed trading, lots of small seed companies and nurseries selling seeds and plants (raspberry canes, mushroom logs, sesame seeds for sprouting .........)

Hi Scotty; Check out this blog post for a list of Canadian seed companies and some of their offerings this year. seasonalontariofood.blogspot.ca/2015/01/its-time-my-annual-review-of-seed.htmlI really like Cottage Gardener, Hawthorn Farm, Heritage Harvest, Prairie Gardener, Terra Edibles, OSC, and William Dam in particular... yeah that's kind of most of them. May I ask where you are (approximately)?

Tourne-sol also produce a lot of its own seed if you want something somewhat locally adapted. I agree to go to Seedy Saturday and ask if they grow it, what their involvement is in its production. Very important.
Next year, we'll have to chat around seed trading time.
