I reread my post americangardener and can see why you're asking. I wasn't very clear. No, the 'brute' was just a variety that a friend has been growing since he got seeds years ago. Two years ago he almost lost them and ended up with just a few seeds left. He wanted to spread the risk so asked me to grow some out.
Richmond River Green Apple is just an apple-sized round cuke. Good crisp texture and not too big. I can eat one over a day or two without it going to waste.

Ray, is it seedy like LEMON? The taste of it is great, I adore the crunch. but darn, the seed chamber is hugge and the surrounding circle of meat is about a half inch thick...
The fact that it is northern interests you? How about some zone 2/3 melons from the coldest part of agricultural Canada?
It is early winter for you isn't it?, so i have time to accumulate some more seed varieties for you before a mailing...I am expecting some little treasures in the weeks ahead...OK for you ?

I haven't tried Lemon but I imagine that you would find Richmond River Green Apple quite seedy.
Take your time. You're absolutely right. We are just about to hit winter. I don't even think about sowing melons, cukes, tomatoes etc until September because I can't plant them out until November to be sure of avoiding frost. Well, I do think about it, make lists, change them, look at catalogues, trawl the net for varieties I'd like to try, you know, the usual winter pursuits.
