Planted corn, pole beans & squash in an area behind my garage. Then the impenetrable grass grew. Suddenly the Illinois squash emerged from the edges of the jungle. Apparently squash vine borers can't find the stems so I now have the longest vines ever. Looks like a good squash crop shaping up. Not often success emerges from my failures.
