I weeded my sweet pepper patch yesterday and found the first flowers for this year. It is my own landrace pretty reliable for outside growing. I sow seeds inside on 30 of April and planted them around mid June as tiny plants with 4 leaves. I was late this year, but if I look on the bright side it gives me the chance to find the most precocious plants I wonder if my landrace is early or late with about 120 days from sowing to first flower in comparison to others? Given days to maturity on seed packages are from planting to first ripe fruits as I understand it, right? Hard to compare, also as it is not specified at what size plants are planted. What do you think?

what kind of varieties do you use for your landrace ?
May be you can try "Do hill" this plant is very early 60 days, medium fruits size but the flesh is tasty, sweet and juicy. I m sow them the 5 may inside and transplant them mid june outside. I harvest orange color fruits since 2 weeks. First flowers comes about one and half month after sowing. Amazing plants. I planted two plants in a field without irrigation, flowers buds comes only, but no rain since mid may happily since two weeks rain is comeback. I hope harvest few fruits !

your plants are definately earlier than mine. I can`t remember which varieties I started with, Roter Augsburger is the only I remember. The thing is there are not many varieties one can grow outside in northern Germany, so I tried a lot. Most of the bell peppers failed or had undesireable traits all of mine are conical. first flower after 1 1/2 month after sowing is definitely not possible for me, it is common here to sow inside in february and to plant in green house at the end of may in comparison to that I made some progress Where can I find information about "DO Hill"?
