I bought some seed of this from Jung's and am trying to find out if it is a C. pepo or something else.
Searches I have done have listed it in two different species, but I'm not sure if what I found is the same one. Most often it is listed as a C. pepo, but it doesn't look like one from the pictures.
Any thought?
Thanks, Pugs

Hey Pugs,
I grew Jamboree last year and can report that it is a C. Moshata and not a pepo. Also quite nice for decoration and pretty darn good for pies, though it does tend to be a bit water. Hope this helps

Alan,
Thanks. Yes it helps. I kinda like the color and will grow it out for dehybridizing. See what happens.
Thanks again.

Looks like an "improved" Jarrahdale.

FP,
Sounds right to me. I have Jarrahdale (listed on the package as C. pepo, which I know is wrong) too, I'll grow them both out and then compare them.

I just checked. My pack also says C. pepo. But I do have like 5 seeds left in the pack. I had no luck with them last season. I'll try those along with the Queesland Blue and a "few" other winter squash/pumpkins. Are these varieties blue from the beginning? Or are they white and then turn blue?

FP,
I don't know what color they start out as. I guess we will both learn that this year.

Yep, Pugs, I guess we will . lol I am not saving any seeds from winter squash this yr. I'm just doing a massive growout of a bunch of types. But there is nothing I love better than a huge orange Jack-O-Lantern. Well, maybe a huge WHITE Jack-O-Lantern!
