Does anyone have any pole type Lima beans to trade? I have lots of pole type common beans, at least twenty kinds. I want to start a landrace of pole Lima beans so the more kinds I can find the better. I also have quite a selection of lots of different kinds of corn, especially sweet varieties.

Is there anything in particular that you are looking for? I have quite a few, mostly small-seeded heirlooms: 1880's Butterbean Blue & White Fence German Butterbean (mid-large) Hopi Pole Madagascar Sieva Mottled Sieva Violet's Multi-colored
I don't know your location... if you have a long warm climate, I would recommend Hopi Pole; great flavor, and highly productive. For short seasons, Sieva would be your best bet. I also have a black-seeded bush lima with a fairly short DTM.
Not looking for a trade, unless you have something really rare or unusual; I'm already pretty much maxed out on the number of beans I can maintain. But if you would like to try one of these, or want more info, send me a PM.

reed mine are pole limas, but many of them are long season. I'd be glad to send some your way if you thought they would work. zeedman what does Blue & White Fence look like? I'm not familiar with it.

flowerweaver the Blue & White Fence is a small-seeded pole lima, with black speckles over a white background; I think Old Time Fence is a synonym. It closely resembles Mottled Sieva, but with black mottling instead of maroon & a later DTM. It is a bit of a stretch for my growing season, so I may be dropping it from my collection to make room for others that are better adapted. The Hopi Pole has a long DTM too, but the flavor & color are so good that I'll risk the occasional failure.

flowerweaver, I would love a few, I mean a few, of what ever you have enough of. I generally want to select for shorter season in everything but to start out I think the more diversity the better. I can pretty much count on frost free from May thru Sept so that's about 150 days which is long enough for most things. I like short season because it reduces the time something can happen to a crop and in many cases allows double use of my limited space. I'll pm my address.
