So I actually planted garlic before winter this year but now they are sprouting. Is this a bad thing or is it normal? Last year I left the bulbs in ground for the scapes to dry and transplanted them December 7. They had already sprouted and died down after the transplant. Only 2/3 made it though winter and the rest hard a hard time coming up due to the dried leaves from the year before. Any advice?
Also when do you guys plant garlic?

Some sprouting shouldn't be a problem. I've been working out when to plant mine for the last few years. For my garden, here in Maine, the first week of October seems to be about right for the varieties I grow. That said, I haven't dropped my cloves yet. I'm only a month and a half late.

I managed to get mine in about a week ago. We had a warm spell this fall, so I told myself I had an excuse for procrastinating.

Always plant mine early autumn as i like to have them well established before the cold kicks in

Well I'm glad to hear that is not that uncommon. I just hope they all make it. Also the TGS was transplanted along with them. They had not died down. So hopefully they will go ok as well.
