I live in California but want to plant some pole beans out in a Midwestern location where I will not be able to tend to them while they are growing this summer. I want something that is a good climber and extremely vigorous. They will probably have adequate water from rain and will be growing in excellent soil on prime farmland. I am going to plant them near bushes and small trees where they can climb. What bean varieties might do well?

I'd put my money on Cherokee Trail of Tears (and have plenty of seed if you need some.)
Your biggest issue might be wildlife - deer, etc. love beans too.

Thanks. I actually have some from last year that I did not plant. I don't know how much wildlife pressure this location will have. I guess that's going to be part of the experiment.
