Not looking for seeds here just looking for sources. If anyone knows of a commercial source that is selling long day hybrid or open pollinated onion seed mixes, I would appreciate the link. My searches have come up empty so far regarding onions, but I did find a hybrid shallot seed mix available at Jung's and I ordered that. The reason: It is a royal pain trying to acquire a collection when every commercial source offers a few different choices of varieties that I might want to acquire, except that I see no point in paying shipping costs from multiple sources for just a few packs of seeds from each source. Have you tried seedsnow.com? They sell small "sampler" packs for $1 each, and they offer free shipping sometimes (I signed up for their emails, and waited for the "no minimum order" free shipping special.) They do not have mixes of onions, and not many long-day type, so it's not exactly what you wanted--but at least it might help with the shipping problem, for a few kinds.

Since Copra is no longer available, I've become interested in growing my own onion seed as well. I seeded 4 trays today. 3 ops and a hybrid... Hopefully I can work this out... We tend to like stronger flavored yellow onions and I'd like them to store well into spring.

That's a pretty cool project, no matter the outcome, your French onion soup should be amazing... 🙂

Copra is still available. Dixondale has the plants and Jung's has the seeds. A few places have Clear Dawn which is a stabilized version of Copra.
