The feral cat seems not much afraid, hanging out 10/15" in front of the pump-house when I'm there; that's cool; I hope to keep them around; fewer rodents and ground-squirrels; I've put out water and a bit of chow.
Only a couple months until rain (one hopes), which will allow prep-tilling of my planting lanes, and washing my skuzzy-looking truck; one does look with hope on a new year.
I think the past several drought years (and hares) have wiped out my store of Joseph's Cherry Sweet, but I have a quantity of "off-types" from it; so we shall see what happens, this coming year. I admit I like it just for pretty, being such a slut for pretty.
Wow! Two months until my house is due to be put on the farm (and fully paid for); pretty big change, there; additions to the house at the same time as prepping for planting; so much to do, so little time; this would have been easier in my thirties, but I had no clue. Glad I seem to be getting past that cardio problem, as I'm going to need my strength and stamina.

Glad to hear you're OK, steev. Chronic smoke is nothing to sneeze at. Take good care of yourself. And those kitties. They'll help you with the jackrabbit.

Well, I didn't want to commit without the money in hand (I hate doing things on credit); unluckily the Great Recession beat me up pretty bad, as has the lack of help these last few years, but things are coming together at last, so it's all good. I rarely feel under pressure to get things done in a hurry (it's worrisome to my sweetheart; she can't quite get how I sock stuff away without using it for years, but I have a plan, so I gather stuff when it's available, knowing that I'll eventually use it; the only hard part is remembering what I have and where it is, when I want it; maybe I'll inventory my stuff; I can be that OCD). I anticipate getting a lot more done when I'm fully on the farm.

Caught two of the kittens and gave them a little petting; one became defensively aggressive; the other was just bewildered.
Tomorrow they're going to try to electroshock my heart into a normal rhythm; they're pretty sure I couldn't do this myself by grabbing the electric fence on the farm.

The feral cat moved her litter across the road, prolly because of my smell on her kittens (she doesn't mind it on the kibble I leave her); interestingly enough, she's also adopted or stolen three kittens from another cat; never seen that before.
The weather changing, and my energy returning, it looks like time to start planting Brassicas; I continue harvesting Sun Gold toms, as well as Flame Tokay grapes (trying to stay ahead of a jay that really likes them; the birds have pretty much cleaned out the other sorts of grapes; this winter, I'll make an effort to propagate cuttings to expand my plantings, hoping to get ahead of the birds. My nephew had a pretty fine jalapeno-cilantro marinade for dove which I'm sure would be fine for any bird, so maybe it's time I bought a shotgun.
Actually, they never got around to shocking me, thinking it looked inadvisable; do I think they'll want that co-pay again in a week or so? Oh, hell, yes; as I'm sure they'll double-dip into Medicare. I don't much care about that, but I will ask why I'm paying twice for something I didn't get.

I got a $200 bill for that 2-block ambulance ride; I'd walked 3 blocks to the clinic and declared I could walk to the ER, but they insisted on the ambulance; I think we're gonna talk; I'm not happy about this BS!
Tomorrow I go in for another shot at being shocked into a normal rhythm; (I'm a white boy, of course my rhythm is bad) are they going to want another co-pay? Is the Pope in the woods?
The house is being hung up because I have no idea where the grant deed is (things have been dicey the past decade, storage-wise); the pre-fab company is unsure that I'd not be spending the money to put a house on land I don't own entirely (unimproved land, therefore bought cash on the barrel-head, as no bank will float a note on such; duh!). Again, I'm not happy about other peoples' BS. I really can't wait to get out of town to the boonies so I can just live my own damned life while I still have one.
Birds have utterly cleaned out the grapes.

Planted out kale, bok choi, and cabbage, all cloched in case that damned hare is still in the garden.
Picked more Sun Gold toms; I'm thinking I should be able to harvest them by shaking the plants, maybe training them on slanted fencing and putting plastic under so they roll into a ditch to be gathered. Wish I liked their taste more, but I'll not argue with success; that's the only tom that did diddley for me this year; my sweetheart and landlady like them pretty much.
While I was reading under the arbor, a doe walked by fifteen feet away, followed by a four-point buck; life goes on.

Bought seven different pluots at my produce market; will try to grow on the pits, just on spec; maybe I'll try a grex of pluots, plumcots, and ap-rons (good for keeping clothes clean, tho' not tasty).
