picked up 5 trees for the orchard the other day on clearance; paid £50; list price was somewhere around £360! They started out seriously overpriced but I got a ridiculous bargain: 2 grafted walnuts, a nice mulberry and 2 choice cornus kousa cultivars all about 8 feet tall. Feels like if the staff had known enough to recognise the trees once the labels got knocked off I might not have got such a good deal

Great score! People here would want that much for any one of them, never mind all together!
There's a list going around for an online sort of semi local auction of nursery stock, which is something new to me so checked it out. So far it seems as though even online people get auction fever, three more days of bidding and the prices are already pretty much what I can normally get them for AND have someone to yell at if the pear turns out to be a plum or the Wealthy apple a crabapple. Going to pass.
