I've read that! In spite of its age it is a very readable and interesting book, more respectful of Hidatsa culture than one might expect, and I agree in recommending it highly.
When I look at my records, it looks like we grew a Mandan pattypan squash one year, which I noted as "lovely". What I meant by that I no longer know. We didn't grow it again; maybe we couldn't get seeds but I seen to recall that it wasn't super productive so we may not have looked either.
