That is sure a beautiful place ya got there richardw. I can feel cool fresh air just lookin at the picture. It's been very hot here past several days, although yesterday and today it's improved some. Just mid 80s and low humidity.

The weather has settled into a very beautiful late spring, sunny, high 70s F and breezy. Everything is growing as fast as it possibly can.

Last day of autumn and we still haven't had a real killing frost yet, they've all been light. Still have a Urenika potato with green leaves, but it does take a frost to shut that variety down for winter though. Cape Gooseberries are still hanging in there too.

Looking like a substantial amount of rain due as a subtropical depression is forecast to move down over the top half of NZ over the next few days, means though temperatures wont be cold.

No frosts yet this summer. Did reach 101F yesterday, for the second time this year. Don't care for it, but it is just part of living here. It does cool down nights, and I get up early to work in the cool. It's OK. At least I'm not spending 10 to 14 hours a day moving 100 pound bales of hay, like I did in my younger days. That was always my summer job from age 10 or less, through college. And it paid my way through college without loans or help from family. But that job doesn't exist any more, it's automated.

Too hot,too dry. Haven't topped 100 yet but several days close to it. I feel for you walt, about the hay. At least we got a break from it now an then to set, hoe, cut and house tobacco. And of course to milk the cows twice a day.

Gotten warm and dry. Last Wednesday it was super humid but it never actually rained...then it got sunny, dry and breezy again. I rather like the sunny, dry and breezy but it needs to rain occasionally. Hoping it will tonight...there's a sizable chance we get thunderstorms, which would be quite welcome!

Cold front came though during the night. Got enough rain to matter. I can skip watering today, at least. After the heat of the last couple of weeks, it feels cold, though this would have seemed hot last January, when I was used to cold.

This mornings frost might have knocked back the Fava beans that were flowering, lettuces have been able to be used but this -4.7C deg might make them uneatable for about 6 weeks when it should start to warm again.
