My favorite cross, and the basis for a lot of other complex crosses. The project goal was Wildthyme flavor (really top of the line), with the looks and shelf life of
the Beauty King x Indigo Rose cross (the same parent's that produced "Siberian Tiger"). But, it surprises me with something cool and new almost every year.
Heading into F5 this year, so things are starting to stabilize. I'll probably start applying names to the sub lines this fall (all names will be 'Spinal Tap' themed,
because a grower of one of the F2's said it "went to 11"
).
Here's a "best of" from this year's grow-outs. All indeterminate, mostly potato leaf, all at least "good" productivity (unless noted otherwise below). Mostly mid-season.
AM FY 1-4 Nice green/red interior, taste 8+,"the one"
AM L 2-13 Big, red skin/GWR taste 9, great, doing some.
AM L 2-19 LOOKS, TASTE! *
AM L 28-5 great looks, GWR
AM L 28-8 pretty BC taste 8.5/10
BIG FY 3-12 Big, best looks of the bigger ones. Taste 7.5
BIG FY 3-13 Bicolor, tangerine taste, 7.5/10
BIG FY 7-1 Truly Excellent Taste
BIG L 1-19 Green/red interior, pretty good, 7/10
BIG L 3-18 Early, Ananas Noir type interior, very good, 8/10
BIG L 3-20 Early, great for a yellow, taste 8/10, solid candidate
BIG L 3-23 Taste 8.5+, good!
BIG L 5-43 Ananas Noir interior, big, VERY GOOD *
BIG L 4-21 GWR interior. Taste 9/10 *
BIG L 19-7 Cool stripe, brick red w/a few green (“gold”) stripes, tomato-y, 8/10
