I have noticed most "garden" websites recommend an in row spacing of peanuts at somewhere between 5-7 inches between plants, but most universities state that seeding 5-6 seeds per foot row is recommended, partially due to lower disease incidence. is this due to high cost of peanut seed for backyard gardener, or is this based on cultivar? I saved seed from last year, so I have 3lb of Tennessee red Valencia to plant. Also in a twin row is it 5-6 seeds per foot for both rows put together, or a little higher density due to row spacing increasing from 30 inches to 3 ft.

Since peanut plants grow to around 50 cm across that is how far apart I plant them.

I used to grow peanuts commercially and have since married into a peanut growing family. 5-6 seeds per foot is pretty standard. When planting in double/twins rows, keep the density the same but spread it out over the 2 rows, ie: 3 seeds per foot in each twin row or 6 seeds per foot in single rows.

My peanuts are lookin happy even with a good bit of thrips feeding, anyone have information on stackpoling peanuts to dry. There isn't much information, I guess it seems pretty intuitive, my only question will a frost negatively effect the peanuts curing, I should have a month while they are on the pole before a chance of frost. any one with expierience how long they stay on the pole?
