It would be great to find a source - they were restricted to commercial growers who signed long legal agreements not to save seed. Calvin L. passed last year; it would be a shame if these varieties were not more widely grown (and worse yet, might be lost).

Yes, I've tried his "snap greens". Two varieties with different names, but they didn't seem much different so i mixed them together when i grew them. Got mine from fedco or Johnnys, not sure who. But i wasnt all that impressed with them, but some are still floating around in my populations. Probably mostly in my "unknowns" batch. The snap greens are basically a dwarf parsley pea (supposedly with snap pods), perhaps that's why they didn't grow all that well for me. Snaps are hard to grow here. I also had purple pod parsley last year that someone from this forum sent me. zeedman ?, but those likely got mixed in the "purples" batch in my haphazard collecting. In fact, i have one parsley type that is growing in amongst my mighty midget peas. Must have got mixed in by mistake. Probably one of those "snap greens". The snap greens are like the standard parsley type but almost more "petite" i guess you'd say. Hard to explain. Remind me to make up a batch of peas later after this summer to send you. Maybe you'll get some in the surprise batches.

A red yellow and purple would look great.

Well, turns out that stray one is actually a purple-pod parsley Andrew's Peas, June 1st. Loveland, Colorado. by Andrew Barney, on Flickr Andrew's Peas, June 1st.
