I planted some hulled barley this spring for seed increase. Just a while before I was going to harvest, an animal (deer, large bunny, next door neighbor?) took the tops off the plants. Is it possible for grains such as barley to re-flower or should I just hoe it all down and plant something else?

When barley, wheat, and rye get their flowering stalk cut soon after bloom, they sometimes put up another. Usually the second one is smaller. If growing conditions aren't good late in the season, they won't produce one. Here, Kansas, it would be hopeless because of the triple digit (F) heat which would kill wheat, rye, or barley.
