About 5 years ago, when I first started gardening, I grew 3 White Tomesol tomatoes and one of them had fruit that were very sweet and fruity, no tomato taste at all. eating them fresh of the vine was like going out and picking a peach or something, thats the sort of sweetness. At the time I was new to gardening and I didn't even think about saving seeds, and I really wish I had because none of the other White Tomesol plants i grew that year or since have ever had a flavour like that.

Years ago I bought a punnet of mixed heirloom tomatoes at a gourmet supermarket. In there were two VERY white functionally transparent (I could see the veins AND the seeds through the flesh) tomatoes. One night I decided to eat them and put my usual splash of cider vinegar on them. When I took a bit I almost retched. It was like putting vinegar on GRAPES, the tomatoes were so sweet and un-tomatoey. I think I still have seed from those tomatoes somewhere in my files.
