I've just discovered that I control the weather OTF; the days I'm there are the hottest of the week, quite reliably. Today my cellphone shut down due to overheating; guess it's like a dog; have to crack the windows if I leave it in the p'up.

We are have nice average weather for the next week, lower humidity makes it nice to be outside but last night I wore my usual cut off blue jeans and a tank top and was actually uncomfortably cool at seven P.M. The weather and just going outside, right now in the evening, seem to have the feeling and odors of early fall rather than late summer, probably due to such a sudden change in weather, plus now the county fairs and farm threshing shows are starting up plus the dick-head sports people are babbling about football constantly though even though our baseball team is in the running for World Series play-offs every other stinking pro-sport has gotten more coverage than the baseball team all damn summer.

Gorgeous clear dry day here. Tomorrow is supposed to get humid and thunderstormy evenings again. We've been having a great weather and garden year, all things considered. Haven't had to irrigate but once, and that was merely a "probably a good idea, the squash wilt in the middle of the day" irrgate, not a "OMG things are shriveling and turning brown" irrigate. But it's not been overly wet, either. The blackberries are taking over, though. Kiowa. Monsters. Been making lots of pie. When it's cool enough to bake.

The air in the Central Valley has a lot of haze; white horizon; we could use a nice rain, which is an impossibility in this Mediterranean climate, of course.

Talked to my sister near Denver yesterday. She described the most amazing light show of hundreds or thousands of lightning bolts on the other side of the mountain from her house. Said it was like a giant strobe light and went on for a couple hours. We just had our first rain in weeks, less than a quarter inch but cooled things off a little, aaaaahh.

We had a high of 72 today with low humidity. It was probably the nicest day of the entire year without exception. No dog days of summer so far this August though I have heard rumors of an early fall but right now gardens and fields all over are doing very well.

We've had a fairly cool summer. The heat loving plants (peppers, melons, moschata squash) are taking their sweet time, still haven't got a red ripe pepper nor a ripe melon. Hoping summer lasts a few more weeks!

Very hot and humid today, so of course I spent the day dropping and chopping a very large, very dead, maple; made at least a Winter's firewood for the client, given that the East Bay isn't very cold.

Pissing rain again today but right now we are have nice mild MAY weather. Some time you regret complaining about the Dog Days of August.

The sun came back and with it some warmth. Forecast to stay until at least the middle of next week, which would be lovely. Some of the trees up near the university campus have already started on their fall colors, which is ludicrous. I REFUSE to live in Vermont, dammit. This is southern New England, and the weather better act like it.

Rained three of the four past days, stopped now but still below average day and night. More windy than normal for a fair number of days now.

HA! we got 11 inches in a couple hours one day back in July. Very little since, it's dry, dry dry here now.

Weather seems to have turned OTF, not a day too soon; sitting out listening to music and sky-watching Saturday night, I had to put on a coat.

Ten to twenty degrees below average and wet the past 12 days. It is supposed to get above average next week.
