Hello all! Haven't posted here for a while, been distracted by duty to family mostly, anyway good to see my password still worked, good to be here. What's a 'bushy' type field pea that's good eating fresh or dried? Brown speckled preferred but not necessary. Also has anyone Piggott Family Pea for trade?

Solana Seed in Quebec Canada is selling them 40 seeds for 2.50 Canadian funds. US money costs us about 35 cents per dollar these days so I imagine the cost to you (aside from shipping which I don't know) would be less than $2 when all was said and done. When I ordered from her some years ago everything came in good order...but every word on the packet was in French, in case you care.

Do you have any Old Timer cowpeas to trade? $2.50 for thirty seed is a bit steep. i think so. let me do some digging and get back to you.

I doubt this will be of any help (given that 1. you seem to already have settled on a pea and 2. you thought 2.50 was steep for seed) but Ricters sells a cowpea in it's seed zoo called avakli that might fit you bill as well. Besides being speckled and bushy (I think, based on the third picture on the general page) it also appears to be fast growing (if they are planting it in May and harvesting it in August) link

I found them for .0324 per seed (free shipping).

Actually, I have since found out there is someone in the SSE that has Avakli (no idea what they charge, but it's probably less)
