Hello! What is your climate? June and jully could be a months very hot and dry.
In my climate the kohlrabi could be ascend in seed easily in june and july .For me august could be a better month with less difference of t° between the day and the night. However if july is sweet or if you make a mulching for reduce difference t° of the ground or at shadow you could maybe tryed in july. if the climate is sweet a spring growing is possible.

It's not well known but July on average is Kentuckys' greatest rainfall month in the form of summer downpours. Avg July temp probably 84-88F where I'm at. It's August and September where it can turn hot and dry. Where are you located? What do you mean by sweet? Lawdy, time fies, just counted it up, 44 years ago I direct seeded 'Burpee Sure Head Cabbage' into the garden in mid-July, thinning, watering, babying, and come November I had some really nice heads of cabbage. It should work if I did the same with 'Gigante Winter Kohlrabi', don't you think?

I am located in the region grand east of france. Climate 1/2 continental. The summer in heat wave we can have 20°C (68°F) the night and 35°C (95°F) the day. When the weather is normal we have 15°C (59°F) the night and 25°C (77°F) the day.August could be have a heatwave but the day are less long and the heat is less strong. A climate sweet is a climate without extreme. Below 30°C the summer and above extreme at-10°C the winter. A climate without risk of heatwave and coldwave. Last year we have been a heatwave in june The winter is globally sweet but we could we have the influences of the north sea but we could have a russian wind of north east very cold and dry. If july is humid it coudld work.In june they could be have a best root for a best resistance in august and september. I think that a growing between1/2 April or may with haverest in august is possible your summer is late!

"A climate sweet is a climate without extreme. Below 30°C the summer and above extreme at-10°C the winter."
Thanks, I learned something. Our county is dissected by the 38th parallel, somewhat south of you. Depending on the position of the jet stream this Ohio Valley climate can and often does go to extremes.
Because of the 130 DTM of 'Gigante Winter' I'm hesitant to plant in June because of the chances of it getting woody or pithy by Oct. I'd like for the kohlrabi to be at 'just the right' stage in Nov or Dec to cover with a heavy mulch and store it in the garden through the winter.

When i have a doubt i make a few tests in differents conditions. I take a few seed (3 to 10) and i see her comportement on the growing cycle at moment or i sow the seed
