I have been eating the seedpods of Chinese Shawo Fruit radishes (from Baker Creek) Now I am leaving the rest to produce seeds.
When I went to check on them just now I discovered the pods have been pecked open by birds and the seeds eaten. I've never had that happen before. I guess I had better net them from now on.

I try in a planter a few seeds of radish that i have recuperate. For a good genetics i have choose the radish multicolored round. They germinate. When a bird is thirsty, he eat the seed for have the water of them. I put a few point of water for the birds and they look like happy and take their bath and drink.

we have a few birdbaths around the gardens to give them a drink and place to bathe but also to discourage them from pecking at fruits for moisture. it seems to help. we do not feed the birds here as we want to encourage them to get the bugs in the gardens.
for certain birds though they do like some seeds and pods and we've had some plants thrashed/threshed out from the goldfinches especially. also sometimes the chipmunks will go after some certain pods/grain heads when they start getting ripe enough.
in the end netting may be required.
the only radishes we have here are daikon radishes and the birds tearing them apart helps spread the seeds around so i'm not upset by that at all. what does bother me is that deer sometimes will come through and eat the tops off or damage them.
