Greetings friends and family, Buffaloberry back again at the squash, pumpkin, watermelon and cucumber section, where I wanna address varieties of Illinois and Miami tribal squash, pumpkins, watermelons, melons and gourds to help restore agricultural traditions and cultures in the Calumet region of Chicago and Indiana, off the shores of southern Lake Michigan. I recently had Miami spotted squash, Gete Okosomin, an ancient old and large squash, yellow crookneck, green stripe cushaw, Potawatomi and Illinois red seed watermelons this year. I've planted the spotted pumpkin, cushaw and watermelon, but only my cushaw squash has gained some fruit this year, and got five of them. I'm not only looking for more Miami spotted pumpkin and Potawatomi watermelon, but also more types of Miami and Illinois heirloom squashes, pumpkins and watermelons, cause the Illinois nation used to have more types of watermelon and pumpkins in the cucurbita pepo family. There was also a publication out in 1822 on how the Illinois raise their watermelons after the Spanish and French came to the shores of this nation. Please share with me if you all found anything. Much love!

If you dig around a bit, you will find reference to a red seeded watermelon that was popular among several Indian tribes.

I already have an Illinois red seed watermelon at home and a Potawatomi red seed watermelon at my friend's garden shed. I'm looking for some watermelons from the Miami tribe and more from the Illinois nation. Does anybody know anymore Illinois and Miami pumpkins and squashes from centuries ago since I'm doing a garden about the Calumet region of Chicago and Indiana, off the shores of southern Lake Michigan? Thanks!

Quiet up in here so far. Has anybody known about any watermelons grown at the Illinois-Indiana border years ago, sometime in the 1820s from native tribes? And any of you know about the agricultural relations between the Illinois and French? Thanks!

Happy summer folks! I wanna ask if you folks known about a red seed citron which was supposed to be an ancestor of all watermelons to this day?
