yesterday was nice enough i could get outside and do a bit of gardening. dirt therapy is very welcome at last. the early spring flowers are coming up, crocuses, normally we have some blue iris bulbs which come up first but we've had some pretty cold nights still so perhaps they are staying hidden because of those. the next three days we're going to be up to about 18C but still below freezing a bit at night. not much rain or snow for the past several weeks, so it is getting pretty dry out there. next chances of rain come Tues/Tues evening and then Friday.

yes, it's still early spring here, can get below freezing, a few more weeks and i can get some peas planted that can survive some cold, a week or two later i can try some cooler weather beans that may do better if planted early, if they can survive. warm weather crops are still 6-8 weeks away for planting for us.

Today, 4°C 39,2°F the morning and 25°C 77°F the afternoon.

Hot for a 1st april, 8°C 46,4°F this morning and 25°C 77°F this afternoon. With the high temperztures we can think it is possible to plant but we can have of cold periods. The peach and apricot trees are flowered.

I saw the report earlier today about the loss of the grapes in France, very sad. It is dry here for this time of year and very warm. Low to mid 80s F last few days with constant dry wind. US drought monitor shows a third or more of North America is experiencing significant drought. It isn't dry enough here to be included in that designation and I hope it doesn't get that way.

sorry to hear about the frost damage but that does happen, similar happened here in MI a few years ago which ruined the fruit crops for most of the state.
drought here was getting worse but in recent days we've picked up enough rains to help out with that. gladly we only garden here so worries about larger scale irrigation are not something i have to deal with. the well and garden hose can get us through the driest spells.
