we're continuing the same sort of pattern as before, 4 hot days in a row but too much cloud cover. not really enough sunshine to push growing along strongly but it will probably be ok.  |

Bad year for the tomatos: they have the blight on the rods.The weather was too rainy and humid.The weather will be more dry and hot the nexts days.

we've had a warm and humid spell that has now eased off for a few days to where we can be outside more easily into the day. rains have held off for a few days. still a lot of cloud cover so that is affecting how fast some plants are growing.
like i'm pretty sure that the dry spell and lack of sunshine we had did end up making for a smaller bulb size in the garlic.
overall though the year is coming along ok.

we had some pretty heavy downpours last Saturday so I haven't had to do much watering this week. the forecast is for more rains tonight and tomorrow so I'm going to wait and see if nature does the watering for me or not. after the rains then the rest of the week is going to be cooler and a welcome change for a few days. today should be sunny and dry enough i can get outside for a few hours and get some gardening and puttering around done and pick some beans. |

we had a nice break in the heat and humidity for about five days and then it is back to more normal hotter and more humid again. i expect we'll have the same for the next three weeks or more, but we'll see. perhaps it being such a crazy year it will completely surprise me with something else.
we have a heavy dewfall here at night almost every evening, it is kind of a low spot locally.

that is sad about the wheat, but i hope they can get it harvested eventually.
we have hot and humid weather with chances of rain pretty much every day and evening for the next week. i will be out checking the gardens for drying beans to get them in before they get wet again but this heat and humidity means i generally just hide inside once the morning chores and any spot weeding or watering need to be done. i've been able to catch up the past few weeks on the weeding so the gardens are in reasonable shape.

No rain for over a month and in the 30s every day.
The beds where we grow potato and fava together don't have irritation so it's a good thing the beds are heavily mulched.
A frost in July killed back the potatoes but they are recovering. The deer have been harder on the potatoes than the frost was anyway.
