Hello, Have a customer that would buy spelt from our farm this year. Never grown spelt so we may try a small field. Has anyone built their own small dehuller with success? There are farms in OH with seeds available and one of my priorities is a short stock because we will not bale the straw. Also if anyone knows about the moisture that spelt combines at , we will be direct combining. Located in most northern NY and probably will not plant until mid-June.

Hello, If we try this year it will be spring planted.Fall planting usually works best for us. I did read that spelt should be combined at <14% moisture which is sometimes hard to do with a spring sown crop.
