Hi everybody, I'm new here, just found the site last night, and I'm glad I did!! I read about the blue tomato from page 1/5 (what can I say? If it is strange I have to have it! But I see I'm not the only one out there....) Anyway, I would like to put my name in for seeds to grow next year, How do I go about it? Thank you Paola

I have tons of spare seed for this very same tomato that I grew this year- so if anyone wants any let me know, it is a very interesting tomato- very productive but the only thing is it is best only grown outside in the garden as it reaches it's full colour easily out there- but if grown in a greenhouse the colour is late to appear and is much lighter in colour-rather a lilac purple. But outside grown are a very strong blue /black, its also a good talking point for visitors as no one seems to believe that they are real.

Put me on the slate for some of those blue tomato seeds, if you would, Michael. I'll have a trade list up sometime, but it probably won't have too many tomatoes selections...

Hi- Lycoperson, I am getting very low on supplies now of the blue tomato seed, but if you e-mail me your full postal address I might be able to scrape enough together for you to try them:) I have already sent out about fifty packets of them this autumn to date, so there should be gadzillions of them about next year to play with.

Fifty packets? Wow, Michael, all credit to you for your generosity with this rare variety.
I'm really looking forward to trying it. My neighbour will totally freak out ... he's baffled enough by my orange and yellow tomatoes ...

I wonder, Rebsie, whether this might behave like your gorgeous red snowpea. Overlay the blue onto yellow, orange, pink, green tomatoes and so on to see what emerges in subsequent generations.

So, there are two blue toms about. The European one GMO and the OSU one not.

There are two in development yes, none have been "officially" released. The OSU line is traditionally bred while the English one is a GMO. The OSU Line has become the equivillent of a bootleg recording of a famous band or some such.

Tim, your links do kind of say something about the health, safety and hygiene standards for food these days... Kind of depressing!
