Recently, I've noticed that threads are no longer rising to the top of the forums when there is a new reply. Is this something in my browser, or is everyone experiencing this? If uncorrected, I'll soon have to scroll to the next page looking for recent replies.... which would be annoying to say the least. Hope this isn't a sign of greater problems.

There also seems to be some BIG problems with the formatting in the Reply systems. When you try and alter the text formats (use italics, or bold, or underline) the first time you use it it works fine. However if you try and modify any other text in the message, the system puts the modifiers onto the first word you modified, again and again. So the only way to modify more than one word is to copy the first one, paste it and then remove the original text and replace it. I also notice that the new system seems to insist on trying to put all links, photos etc at the beginning of messages, regardless of where the cursor is when you add the image.

I hate that I cannot upload photos. Very boring. I've tried bringing them in from Picasa, but it's just a hope and poke. Whine Whinge....If we're out of space, why not make HG2?

All of this is an easy fix... where is Alan? There is so many things that you can do now since the swap-over but the admin needs to do it! My forum has changed a lot from what it used to be, it's all cleaned up and purdy... lol

All of this is an easy fix... where is Alan? A fair question. There are parallels I see here to a situation in real estate... where the landlord tries to evict the tenants by messing with the utilities.

Maybe we can have a further open discussion in community about how HG should evolve?

It sounds important that someone be able to address issues as they arise and keep things up-to-date.

It sounds important that someone be able to address issues as they arise and keep things up-to-date. There are plenty of moderators here with near-god powers over the forum. I am in communication with Alan on a regular basis. I'm liking the sticky feature that keeps the most popular topics near the top of each subsection. I promise that I won't fill up the first page of each subsection with more than about half a page of stickies.

Joseph, I am wondering which folks have moderation status that are active here at the moment?

Joseph, I am wondering which folks have moderation status that are active here at the moment? Anyone with a title under their username of "Homegrown Guru" or "Homegrown Seed Development and Project Coordinator"

Exactly, but which users are still active besides you?

My favorite/most-used feature on HG is the "Recent Threads" link. Currently it is only found at the bottom of the Home page in the "Forum Information and Statistics" area, on many other proboards forums I've seen, it has been added to the banner at the top of the page and thus is available everywhere on the forum, I wish WE had that. Unless I'm searching one of the subforums for something specific from way way back, the "Recent Threads" page is how I keep on top of the current conversations. My fondest desire is for Alan to come back and make some of these modifications to HG. It looks like he's pretty busy with his new job though.
From what I can tell, the active moderators these days are Joseph, Ottawagardener, and Johno. It is possible that some of the others are contributing and are invisible users so if they don't post we cannot tell. Certainly the moderators seem to be doing a great job staying ahead of spam posts, which can be a forum killer.
