Hope they find the genes that will give me a prehensile tail.

Clearly, if they think your property has risen that much in value, perhaps everyone should offer to sell it to them at that new assessment; given such a trend, surely they'll jump at the chance to get on the upward-bound gravy train, or stop sucking eggs.

Fully interesting; little pea-barrels (don't say it, just read it).

Aside from looking depressing it prolly makes little difference.

Wow! A client stopped me to tell me his husband had died in a car-crash, unable to get out of a car-be-cue. I've known/worked for these guys about 20 years; he was 55 and had just retired, to manage their apartment building.
Tomorrow is not promised; get on with it while you can,

Interesting, but what will they look like fully dry?

I got one water-melon which I gave my sweet-heart (no reviews, yet), and one other before the ground-squirrels cleaned things out; the one I got was green-fleshed; it got a good review from my landlady, but I was underwhelmed; I saved the seed for re-planting.

Yes, well; the notion of not fucking with the ecosystem is a hard row to hoe, there being so many industrial interests betting their bottom lines on doing exactly that.
1984 be damned; sometimes less really is more.
There was an article in today's fish-wrap about the problems of growing dope in Cali, due to chem-drift from big-ag and chem residue in soils. I have 20 acres of land that's never been subjected to that crap, nor has the whole valley; I have no desire to become a pot mogul; I just want to grow my (hopefully nutritious) chow.

Harvested a little Rainbow chard for salad, Black Crowder cowpeas, Hosui and Nijiseiki pears, Elephant Heart plums, and some apples (the name of which I forget; they're mediocre raw, but useful in cooking).
The Flame Tokay grapes are looking to be very productive; guess I'll put newsprint covers on some of the best bunches, in case birds come to clean them out; I hate to do it, since they don't color well if covered.
Temps have begun to moderate, so soon I'll start clearing off the dry weeds, raking them into the tree-lanes, and preparing to till, when the rain comes.

Getting pathogens out of their comfort zone often works; that's why alkaline sprays tend to work on powdery mildew, rust, smut, and moss; doesn't have to be a big deal; baking soda spray is often enough.

Granted, and reasonably so, but sweeter and more transportable appears not to be always the most nutritious; I realize that is not the real point of that report, which is that EVERYTHING is becoming less nutritious; people will quibble, but I accept that it's our own damned fault.
The environment isn't a closed system; it's all of a part; we fuck things up one place and there are consequences elsewhere, with which we will be forced to deal.
The problem isn't that this is obscure, but that the data isn't available to immediately refute people who want to blow it off for their own generally financial interests.
I understand how developers can screw an urban environment, building stuff that makes them a pot of money so they can live elsewhere, but where do these dick-heads think they're moving, Mars?

Does sound like light intensity might be less than adequate; what you get for being so northern, unless you crank up the artificials.
