Hello Everyone, I've recently come across Alan's blog and this discussion forum. Here are some blogs some of you might find interesting: Bifurcated Carrots www.patnsteph.net/weblogThis is my blog, on topics relating to seed saving and food politics, located in the Netherlands. In my blogroll are other blogs from all over the world, most of which are also involved in plant breeding, seed saving and exchanges. In the Toad's Garden toads.wordpress.com/Soren has several ongoing plant breeding projects. He is located in Denmark, and in particular is looking for northern hardy varieties of melons, peppers and Eggplants. Daughter of the Soil daughterofthesoil.blogspot.com/Located in the UK, she is doing pea breeding. She is working on a project with Ben of Real Seeds, trying to develop a purple podded snow pea. She recently got our attention with the emergence of a red podded pea in her garden.

Hello Patrick: Welcome and a half to our big family!!! I was following the Daughter of the soil work on peas on her blog when you asked her the permission to list her blog( we call that a forum here! ) but I did not find yours. What you are doing is a wonderful thing. A ''federation'' of some sort of plant explorers is a long overdue thing. We do not sell seeds to each others here, we mostly give them and share them. I am mostly doing work on melons, but also on corn and potatoes, and I invite you to join me ( the invitation is open to all your friends). We have a couple of great melons in the pipe line, including the once famed but almost disappeared Lunéville Melon, that we would love to see more grown, and I have many hundreds of unnamed accessions to trial, along with some breeding to do, so the more the merrier I am especially delighted to see more and more europeans here, as this little place of ours is more and more becoming an international forum, we are all gaining from it. Welcome again, and if you need some seeds all you have to do is ask my friend.

Welcome, Patrick, as Michel said "and if you need some seeds all you have to do is ask my friend", although our "passion" seems to lean more to tomatoes and seed banking than Michel's. And yes if you have other sources or ideas, please share them.
Cheers, Val aka grungy

Thanks for the welcome everyone, as well as the offers of seeds.
Hi Frank, yes it is a small world! To everyone else, while I would love to claim to be good friends with Frank, we have only known each other for a few months. I do feel like I have one up on most or all the people here however, as I recently visited Frank, saw his magnificent garden first hand and hope to visit again in a few weeks. Those of you who already traded with Frank may find my collection of plants and seeds a little disappointing, because many of the best things came either directly from Frank, or indirectly via Real Seeds or Lieven.
Hi OttawaGardener!

Patrick, I am trying to leave a comment to your friend at the toad's garden blog, but I keep being discarded. Would you mind if I pm it to you here and you relay it for me please?

Well I guess it's about time I introduced myself too. I'm the person behind Daughter of the Soil, as Patrick mentioned. Thanks Patrick! I'm an amateur pea breeder based in south west England, mostly experimenting with crossing heritage/heirloom varieties. Canadamike invited me to join up a few months ago in a very nice comment he left on my blog, but I've only just got round to it. So hello everybody. I'm having a lot of fun exploring around here. What a wonderful resource.

YESSSSSSSS!!! Hello Rebsie!! I love your other blog by the way. People, you should listen to her music!!
Rebsie is doing VERY interesting breeding with peas, including a red shelled one ( proper english here I hope). OUAH!!!! Iam so happy, we are becoming a little federation of plant explorers from around the world!! Rebsie, you'll find lots of interesting characters here, it is a big family, and a lot of work is being done in breeding.
Please consider my seeds as yours from that day on!!
