Nanojamb - they're talking about the Baker Creek catalog. If you go to the BC site, you can find it.
I've gotten just Stokes so far... with the move this summer, I may need to re-up with a few of them in order to get the catalogs again. The upside is that I'll investigate more local purveyors if I don't have catalogs. The downside is, what the heck will I read for the next 3 months, obsessively?

Yeah, Michel... Peaceful Valley is only about 45 miles away. Bountiful Gardens is more like 3 and a half hours away, so that'll have to wait til I have another reason to go the Palo Alto area! But the first store is just up scenic highway 49 from us... I have plans, big plans! ;D

Mikey, You old Enabler You, LOL And yes, Welcome to Nanojamb. What is the meaning of your Nickname? The doorway to Nanaimo perhaps?? Okay, I got my first catalogue for the season in the mail today. It's T&T seeds from Winnipeg. They have the Gretel hybrid baby container type white eggplants that I mentioned a few weeks ago. Also the Lambkin melon which is apparently a Christmas type, hence my questions regarding same. Soooo much money for All American Selections first time out though. Three items would cost me over $12 before taxes and shipping, and only 15 seeds each. I keep telling myself that I don't NEED any more Seeds....

Ghee, I have a friend, a canadian friend, worse, an ontariarian friend from the great eastern Ontariariario who has spent money on melons... And a woman on top of it, one of those soft, wonderful, sensitive creatures always so full of empathy, sympathy, telepathy, beautypathy and all... I am destroyed, reduced to zilch... I did it all for nothing... I can't take it anymore! P.S. I forgot neuropathy

Mike, perhaps she is hinting for you to offer her the seeds, that her little heart desires, if you are able.
Don't quit, yet, the battle is just beginning. LOL Hang in the little buddy, tomorrow could bring a brighter day.

Geez, what have I done now?? LOL Michel, I was just saying how terribly expensive the new All American Selections are. I Did Not buy them. There are many other catalogues to come yet, and many seed racks to drool over (although not close enough of course that it makes the packages soggy and ruins the seeds inside).
Look outside today and know that there are many months to go before we can even consider melons. Yuck!!!!!

OUF!! I already have so much melon, and it is nothing compared to what I am expecting. Mind you, thee is a slight disrcepency between what one orders and what one receives... I know about the catalogs Wendy... but to help cue your withdrawal syndromes, I could send you lots of seeds in very little increments, to keep the thrill of expectation growing. I could be very bad and send you, let's say, rare melons and carrots one by one By the end of February, unable to take it anymore, you'd be camping by the mailbox and people would come from all over to take pictures of you sitting in a long chair or leaning on the mail box post all dressed up in snowmobile attire, drinking coffe spiked up with cognac and waiting for the mailman!! Now, that's my Wendy!!! ;D ;D ;D

Carrot seed by carrot seed... Perhaps you could do that during sowing time to remind me to succession plant a bit more regularly Personally, I like receiving the multi-seed packs... even though I have to hit the drafting table to figure out where to plant them all. Telsing.

I realy meant cultivar by cultivar my dear. Forty seven cents per carrot seed plus the enveloppe is a bit harsh on a budget ;D ;D

Melons would suffice, TY. I've not the patience required to weed carrots or beets. Easiest just to go purchase them from someone who does. I could send you a SASE Mikey, especially since I'm moving far away and well, it might someday cost more in postage to send to S. Ontario? Any excuse to jack postal rates, right?

Bah!! Then the tubers then.... the pre pais think would not work. ...you'll need potaoes and other goodies. I also want to send you one plant of MARA DES BOIS STRAWBERRIES I really din't have much of them, Oerprei leeks..... BTW, I had devised a clever little system for loads of carrots in a tiny space. a box made of 2'' x 6'' construction wood. The soil under was worked and amended, and inside the box nothing but compost, manure, peat moss and some lime. My ten feet long bax gave me all the carrots I needed, they were scattered in there. I used the side of the box for herbs and small lettuces ( planted right at the base of the box. Big harvest in a small space. You'll have to start using square foot gardenig technique. It is the most amazingly productive bag of tricks...
