I want some colored cotton seeds if anyone has some extras! Those red ones are gorgeous, unfortunately the only cotton I have ever seen is the big fields of cotton grown by farmers.

HEY BUNKIE! It only sorta slipped my mind. I just haven't had time yet. I do have a VERY sad report on the beautiful red cotton though. It's only skin deep! The fibers are perfectly white. ALL my cotton is perfectly white! Still, pics are coming soon...

Well, Alan's seed didn't germinate for me. I'm sure I did something wrong to cause that. I hope the cause will be sorted this time next year though. But yea, everything is a lovely shade of... ::sigh:: white! Wish I had some thoughts on your cotton issues... hmmmmm....

I have ONE plant left living of the brown cotton I got from Alan. So far no bolls have popped but they are getting brownish blotches on the green, hope they are supposed to be that way. I planted seeds of brown and green fiber but various calamities have claimed all but the one plant. Crossing my fingers.

I grew cotton last year from Alan's seed, and had no problems. This year I grew some from last year's saved seed plus what Jo sent me plus another red-leafed variety I got at a seed swap - again with no problems. Both red-leaf varieties have white fiber.

I'm starting to work through my cotton today. I'd like to know who wants seed, how many seed, and of which varieties. I told Alan at the Gather that I would get more seed from all 5 for him. I'm also sending seed from all 5 to the woman who was doing the spinning demonstration at Spring Mill. She's looking to break into working with cotton and was interested in learning more about what we are doing here.
PM me about this so I can get your packets started!

Sally has had a rough go with someone breaking into her fields and stealing some of her work. I worked with Sally when she was banned from the area in California where she was growing. She helped me do a cotton project for school kids. Further, when I was working on my Masters, she very kindly sent me organic cotton samples for my project. Some colored cotton is available at Southern Exposure Seed Exchange. They are one of those things that here they need to be planted very early and hope for a long long season. SESE won't send to California. I have a hard time getting cotton seed here. So, it pays to have friends in the south who know how to forward a package
