I am going to mass cross several jalapeno varieties in order to come up with some new lines. (Cuz, who doesn't love jalapenos?) I think that a cross of Jaloro (yellow), Purple jalapeno, an early jalapeno, a low heat variety, and at least one of the jumbo hybrids will provide a wide range of possibilities. Too many, in fact, for me to grow out here; so of course I'd like to send out the resulting seed to anyone who is interested in chasing down new lines.
It looks like I've got 'early' covered, but if anybody wants to donate a few their old Jalapeno seeds of any variety, please let me know. I'll be making an order (probably from TGS) within the week, to cover whatever bases are left.

Johno - last year I got a packet from Joan (She used to be on idig a lot, haven't seen her in awhile, but Blue may still be in contact with her.) She just labelled it "jalapeno", so I'm not sure what they are, exactly. Would you like me to grow some of these out this year, see what they are, and then save for you? Or would you prefer to grow some where you are, and make a judgement call that way?
If you want some of these seeds, just let me know.

Johno,
I found the goliath jalepeno seeds and some hildago pepper seeds. The goliath is from totally tomatoes and the hildago is from seeds of change. THey are already in an envelope and addressed to you. THere is about a half a packet of each. Its last years seed but still should be good. Count me in for a growout next year.

Yeah Lav, that'd be great if you just send me a few seeds of it. I bet it's the standard jalapeno, which would be good in the mix. Thanks!

Thanks Jim. Those sound great. Looks like we're off to a good start!
Does anyone know a vendor for Numex Pinata jalapeno?

Thanks, pugs.

Great link, woodchuck. Only problem is, numex pinata is the only pepper they have that I was looking for, and they have a $15.00 minimum (plus shipping, which is very reasonable). That would really blow my seed budget for only needing one pack from them. But they have a good pepper selection and lots of books and merchandise, so I ask that if anyone wants to go in on an order to make up the rest of the minimum, please take a look at this site. The great thing about Numex Pinata is that the jalapenos go through all phases of color, including orange! Great genes for color! I read somewhere that it was a sport of early jalapeno.

I'd be willing to order several packs of seed. How do you want to do it?

Just let me know what you want, and when we hit the fifteen dollar mark, I'll make the order. You can send me a cheque for whatever it comes to. When it gets here, I'll mail you what you ordered.

Johno - would you add "R Naky" to the order, and tell me what I owe? It looks like something that'd do well here. They are on p. 15 of the 2nd chile pepper institute link.
Let me know, too, if your order is already closed. Thanks.
