Is this a Marina di Chioggia? It's supposed to be "flatter". Look at the one in the second pic. Top- Rouge vif D'Etampes, Superfreak (saved seed), Marina di Chioggia Bottom- Acorn (Hip-Gnosis Mass Cross), Delicata X (Hip Gnosis Delicata/Acorn Mass Cross), Pattypan X, New England Pie x luxury Pie, Baby Boo, Hooligan, Pomme D'or (?)

FP, I just googled Marina di Chioggia and I've seen pics of squash that have a stepped shape like a Queensland Blue, some that are flat like a cheese pumpkin and some that are plain old round. Also with warts, without warts.... You got me? Your little Rouge vif d'etampes is getting good colour. I can see that red on the shoulders...

Great looking squash! The single Marina di Chioggia is really breathtaking. Now, just wait till you go to peel it.

I suppose I'll have to use the axe to cut it open. lol When that big one was very green, my friend Justin said "It looks like the Incredible Hulk's nut sack".

Here's a pic of the Long Pie. It's supposed to be about 8lbs. I think that big one is closer to 20. Here's my sad little harvest. Not one Butternut.

Lots of Beautiful Blues in that selection though. In a year when many of us didn't get any squash at all to grow, I think you've done exceptionally well for someone living in Zone 4 atop a mountain. Oooooooo, I can't wait to grow (she says Positively) the Long Pie!!!

Hey Lady FP, What's that little butternutesque on the chair in front of the Long Pie's?? Or did you just squeeze a Winter Luxury Pie a little too tight?

I got that from the owner of the 2nd hand store. He was gonna till them under last month. I guess it's some type of Jack O Lantern. All his plants he bought in 6 packs. He did have Butternuts growing. I wonder if one of them was laying on top of the pumpkin? I had to toss it anyway, it wasn't fully mature & got a soft spot.

FP, it kinda reminds me of those Bule gourds in shape.... Apparently they are a "bright" green when first harvested? Grown any of those lately??

Cortona, you can see in the last pic how green the flat ones are. They do look like the pic in your link. I doubt it's a Bule Gourd. I don't have seeds for that. I thought it was a Queensland Blue at first. But Baker Creek has a pic on it's FB page that shows the same squash. They call it a Marina. They did not mention 2 shapes in the catalog. I would have bought the warty one anyway. The weirder it looks, the more I like it. lol Blue, if you want to post the pic on IDig and ask GZ, it's cool.

The flat ones do have the turban shape on the bottom. The warty one doesn't. And they did not look similar at all when the fruit was forming. I'll grab a pic of the immature warty ones, very weird shape.
I know a farmer here who grew seeds from Johhny's. His fruit were all to type. Maybe the BC strain got crossed or has some type of mutation.
