Mike - could i offer in helping you build up your seed stock by growing a few down here now and sending back what i can grow in time for your spring.

Mike, I'm pretty sure the one I sent you is PI 381322 in ARS-GRIN. I bought it as just Kiev but I was told that its proper name is Kiev Mutant.

Thanks for the offer Ray. By what date would you need the seeds for planting? Turnaround time between request and receipt is a bit slow. I need to do some digging to see if there are any of the sweet varieties that have cold hardy, disease resistant, yield characteristics, etc that make them interesting.
Kiev Mutant did not like our dry, hot summer. I started the plants in flats under lights and planted out in early June after the last frost. They literally fried. Perhaps they need a bit of row cover protection until they adjust to planting out. I've got enough seed left that I'll try them again.

Yes i suppose it is getting later into spring here now so the seed would need to go in soon if i was to grow some.
