I'm glad you're feeling better!!!! I have had kidney stones and know how painful they can be! Remember to drink tons of water.... John Thanks John. I DO drink tons of water, which might be part of the problem... My water is ultra high in lime. Every 90 days I have to remove all my faucet aerators & soak them over night in vinegar because the lime clogs them up.

There is too much to factor in, for me to give the best possible answers, but high-silica, slippery, and anti-spasmodic plants have been given to help pass stones, once they have been formed. IMHO, people eventually develop a reverse tolerance to many diuretics.
Even if you are taking in too much lime, stones are assumed to form around a nucleus of bacteria.
btw, tweeking your body's pH is another possible approach to dealing with your own mineral buildup.
Most substances, whether plant, animal, or mineral, used carefully, probably have some medicinal properties, in keeping with the old fashioned approach to the elements. I am not saying everything has been discovered, so far. But, even a cabbage has been found to have curative properties. To answer the original post, about identifying useful things, you might take closeup pics of the ground, for people who like to talk about this, or describe any chronic conditions, which wouldn't make you feel uncomfortable.

I"ve added some herbs in my garden, in between there is Tomorrow leaf, which is supposed to be very healthy. It is an angelica and easy to grow from seed and grows nicely in shade. I have gotu kola which is not frost resistant and it is supposed to be very healthy too and tastes terrible. I have Greek Mountain tea, from seed still in a pot. Does anyone know the correct latin name of the plant sold in Australia as "Lebanese cress"?
