Here is one of the flower heads on the potato onion plant that flowered this season. Each of the eight bulbs making up the plant has a similar flower head. It was a single bulb last season and flowered then also.

Seed is beginning to ripen and I'm collecting as it does so. One of the flower heads also produced five very small bulbils which I have planted into some seed raising mix. I'll be sowing the seeds around the equinox which is when I normally sow standard onion seeds.

I'll be sowing my TPOS next month, around the equinox, along with potato onion bulbs, ordinary onion seed, topsetting onion bulbs and garlic cloves.

Well if Ray is sowing March,maybe the idea is i try some at the same time and the rest in spring,then i could compare the difference.

I soak them a day or more in water and sow indoor in February. My seedlings are at the same phase as starry.

nicollas have you grown enough of Kelly's Red potato onion (is he calling it Red Mountain?) to cut one open and see the internal color?
