Joseph Lofthouse , I've seen this picture by someone here in PA with the same HF greenhouse who used cargo straps to reinforce the frame and hold the doors closed from the outside. They also covered the greenhouse with plastic to help keep in the warmth and prevent panel blowouts. It was claimed to survive 60 mph+ winds, but is protected by a house nearby. Maybe this will help give you some ideas!

I do believe that in March we might have something closer to normal. Right now, still in the deep freeze. No signs of sugaring weather in sight.

We were above freezing yesterday, slightly. Snow is more packed and harder, you can walk on it this morning without breaking through. Chickens even ventured outside yesterday and spent most of the day under their raspberry tangle. Poor critters were getting coop fever I think.

I know I said I wouldn't report back until the deep freeze lifted but the deep freeze is boring so still a deep freeze. How deep? Deep? But how deep? -23C when I checked this morning. Sun's climbing higher though.

Texas is crazy, y'all. January was warm, and now we have had snow on and off all week. We get snow maybe once or twice a year and usually it's just a short flurry. Right now it is really coming down and has been since 8 this morning! It's 4 or 5 inches deep and is so powdery and fluffy that it's hard to make a snowball. Not your typical TX snow. Looks more like Colorado outside. And two days from now it's supposed to be 70's! No one knows how to drive in this...sorry, world, Texas is closed!

Freezing rain on top of the now about 4" ice layer, o'joy. At least it's warm enough to rain, that's nice. Chickens tip toed out, went back in.

We are slowly emerging from the little ice age though no sugaring weather really yet.

Rain's done, snowing again. This time it's the winter wonderland kind. Great big heavy flakes falling straight down. Supposed to get 3" or 15" depending on who's doing the predicting.

9.5 inches of fresh snow in Philadelphia! It's very pretty on the trees but slippery on the ground. OK - Spring can come now!

Supposed to get down to 10F tonight way down here! I've had 102+ fever for three days, finally broken today. DH has been keeping things watered in the greenhouse. I didn't even remember I had a greenhouse, that's how out of it I was. Then it's supposed to be back in the 80's in a few days. Who knows when to plant anymore?

Our second round of snow turned out to be about a foot. Wet heavy kind this time. Warming up now though and supposed to keep getting warmer. Ground will be a nasty mess for some time, still frozen underneath with thawed stuff on top. I expect the real bad cold is probably done but wouldn't at all be surprised if the polar / gulf conflict continues for some time with the Ohio Valley being the front line of the conflict. Wouldn't be first time in recent years a foot of wet snow wrecked the leafed out trees and completely melted the next day.

Philly high today might reach 40F. Very pretty with snow still on the trees. Starting to melt out!

Nice photo philagardener! reed I don't know how you guys do it. After another freeze it's already back in the 50's and I've lugged all the vegetable starts back out of the greenhouse for the umpteenth time. Don't you love it when your doctor asks you how many times a week you exercise...when you farm?
