I got some eightball and similar type summer squashes. Some from LISP and I'm stoked. Can't wait to get them growing.

We don't care for summer squash here, but I have looked at those cuz they are kinda cute! I think that the small, round version of Spaghetti Squash would be fun to grow. It's the eating part that I wouldn't care for.
CB, if you find that you don't like the taste of your cute squashes either, I'm thinking that they might be good for baseball practice, lol.

I love summer squash, they are one of my favorite crops here on the farm, particularly the scallop squash types which are terrific when grilled with some butter! If you like the round zuchinni types that LIseed offers you should check out his Asteroids Scalap squash blend which is also terrific.

Blue. I'm sure some will find their way to become used as projectiles...lol.

The only summer squash I grow is green zukes. Never really cared for them much. I did have a Pattypan last yr. But I didnt know to pick them small during the summer. I let them go and used them for fall decorations. I still have 3-4 left. Been feeding them to the pigs.

We love summer squash as well, esp patty pans when picked small. I've never tried freezing them cuz I've read that they don't freeze well.

My wife is not a fresh vegetable kind of gal typically and I've gotten her to come around to eating grilled squash, sweet peppers, mushrooms, and onions. I'm hoping that the variety I'll grow this year will help spark her tastebuds up a notch.

We raise a lot of summer squash here on the farm, I guess in southern Indiana they are kind of a big deal because we sell them like crazy at the market stand, particularly if there is a NASCAR race coming up for the weekend and folks are grilling out, which is also sort of a big thing here. We raise Zuchini of all sizes and colors and shapes (including the round ones), Yellow straighneck and crookneck, and Scallops (mostly white, but I have that I increased last year for most of Kens mix as well as some other hybrids I'm segregating and some crosses I made) and we have even grown and marketed some of the summer Moschata type squashes. It took a little education on our part with the scallops and the summer Moschata types but once we got people to try them we got them hooked and they kept coming back for more.
We like to pick all the different types when they are in their baby stage, slice them up together and put them in a pan on the grill with butter, onions and spices, or steam them up in a skillet with butter and spices, and what I like to do is add some good tobasco sauce to the mix! Now that's good eating!
Speaking of Squash, do any of you enjoy Spaghetti Squash?
I absolutely love them and would rather have those that true spaghetti any day, all the taste without the heavy load of sleep demanding carbs! Oh, and if you make up some nice sauce from a yellow or orange roma type tomato your in for a real treat!
Man, now I'm getting hungry and yearning deeply for it to be summer again!

clarkbar, i have grilled all types of the summer quashes and then frozen them and they keep well that way, better than just steaming them and freezing.
alan, hubby loves spaghetti squash! we have it with sauce, and sometimes i just grill shrimp, etc... and make a light butter, garlic and lemon sauce...yummy!
we grow all the patty pan types...yellow, white, green, striped with different colors. we usually pick them small, but some have grown huge and we actually were able to use them like winter squash! was quite a surprize, and not bad tasting. will have to see what LISP is selling. thanks for mentioning them alan!
